THE FIRST FIGHT IN THE NEW FORUM!!!!
Arasulwen, daughter of Thorondor
Ht.: 150 ft. Lt.: 250 ft. Wt.: 15,000 tons Wing Span: 1,300 ft. Race: Great Eagle of Manwe
History: There have been many tales of the Eagles of Manwe and their captain, the King of Eagles, Thorondor. Elegant, swift, giant birds that were also deadly, taking down armies of dragons and protecting the skies. But as many tales of the wars they fought there was never a word spoken about the last of the Eagles in the First Age. The beautiful daughter of the Eagle lord Arasulwen, the grandest of all the eagles, whose wings stretched far and glowed as bright as the Lamps of the Valar. She now lives in a life of seclusion high in the mountaintops, her keen eyes watching the shadows for any evil that may lurk in there to be vanquished.
Description: Arasulwen’s body is covered with pure white feathers, nearly weightless but as hard as the thickest iron. Able to withstand all the extremes in heat and cold. The only sign of color is on her back, specks of golden brown dot her wings and the ends of her feathers. Her strong, curved beak is yellowish gold and her big, keen eyes are a lush, light green. Her long toes end with black talons that can pierce through the strongest or iron, stone, bone, and flesh. A crown of three giant, gold, feathers rise above her giving her a regal and proud look of beauty.
Fighting Style: Arasulwen is extremely quick and agile, with speed faster then light itself. She uses her claws to tear away flesh and muscle and her beak to crush anything that stands in her way. She rarely ever on the ground unless her opponent is on the floor, coming at them swiftly from all sides and ravages their bodies until they become limp. Arasulwen also has some magic forces and other means that she also relies on when physicality is no use.
Song of Thorondor: Arasulwen lets out this rythmic shriek that at first sounds like a beautiful song and quickly turns into a bone shattering, ear splitting shrill that would render all the hear it completely limp with pain and strong structures to crumble into dust.
Belegsul: With one large swoop of her wings Arasulwen commands a mighty wind that destroys all in her path.
Ainaval: The gold crown of Arasulwen begins to glow and her body becomes enlightened with a white light brighter then the sun. To fend off any shadow that lurks.
Arasulwen, being a powerful force of nature, is also intertwined with it. Having the ability to speak with the wind, the rock, the trees, and call on them to help her. She can arise a mighty storm, cause mountains sides to quake, even command hurons, the mighty walking trees, into battle. Nature itself act as a third eye for her, telling her were the enemy lies if her eyes cannot see them.

STAINGONAIR
Age: 631 Height: 56 ft Wingspan: 62 ft Sex: Male Species: Armored Dragon
Appearance (Copy and Paste): http://www.geocities.com/loust_the_demon/staingonair.gif
Behavior: Staingonair is a vicious dragon, a destroyer of kingdoms. Nothing can tame his fury, except for the sound of a violin and a young maiden singing. He is drawn to their sounds and will be calm then. Kingdoms have used this method to draw him in and try to tame or destroy him, but all have failed. His wrath cannot be stopped or contained, and he cannot be controlled.
Weapons: The only weapons Staingonair uses are his own claws, teeth, tail, and the horn on his head. He can also fire the spines on his body at high piercing velocities.
Techniques: Crystal Devastation ~+ From the sphere-like crystal planted in his stomach, Staingonair can fire a massive stream of energy that rapidly changes colors. This is a common attack of his. Rage Burst ~+ Staingonair can fire up to 4 sphere-shaped blasts of energy from his maw, each of which is a different color. Graceful Fury ~+ A burst of energy surges through Staingonair's body, speeding him up rapidly and strengthening his body. At the same time, he can fire his spines more rapidly along with his other techniques.
Fighting Style: Staingonair is quick, vicious, and will not let down when it comes to fighting his opponents. He will not let anything stand in the way of his victory over his opponent, even other adversaries. Once in a rage, he will not let down and keep slicing away.
Background: Staingonair is a vicious Wind Dragon. A conquerer of many kingdoms, but never staying in one place for too long. His thirst for destruction is never quenched, and he will smash anything in his way and will devour those who flee from him. His origin is unkown, though there are many stories that he was created by the gods to clean away all the evil in the world. Other stories claim him to be the devil, and still others claim that he is searching for a mate. No one will never really be sure...

A chilling wind blew through the once forbidden mountain range known as the Iron Wall. Legends spoke of it as an ancient home of the Gods, when they were once mortals just like humans, just before they ascended to the Heavens and froze the once fertile lands. The mountains are considered sacred and holy by all of the nearby villages and the neighboring kingdom of Planchanus. The silent peace was interrupted by a swirling fireball, racing through the air and slamming into one of the mountainsides and causing a thunderous avalanche.
"Keep attacking, men, the castle depends on us! We must not let the dragon Staingonair approach our fair land!" Out of the clouds rose five small Dragons, no more than ten feet long each with thirty foot wingspans. On the back of each Dragon was a knight, armed with a rifle and a sword. They were sent out by the King of Planchanus to pursue the mighty Dragon Staingonair, who was reported to be heading for their castle. This pursuit was an attempt to lure Staingonair into a barren area, away from the castle. It was a suicide mission, but the knights knew this and attacked with no mercy.
The Dragons rose above the clouds, and began spewing fire and acid below, in hopes of striking their target. All at once, massive wings burst forth from the protective cover of the clouds and Staingonair rose from his hiding spot. He let out an ear-piercing, terrifying screech, and instantly launched two of the spines from his tail at his pursuers.
"Look out! Duck into the clouds," the Captain of this brave group of knights shouted. In perfect formation, the Dragons dived back into the clouds, barely avoiding the spines. However, this was a foolhardy move. Staingonair slowed himself until he knew his opponents were under him in the clouds. The pale Dragon let out another shrill cry of certain doom and launched a multitude of spines down below. There was a shriek of pain, and one of the Dragons dropped from the clouds and into the snow covered landscape below. There was another cry; one of the spines pierced the wing of one of the Dragons, but did not stop it.
"Things aren't looking good," cried one of the knights.
"Captain, we must turn back! We have crossed the Iron Wall, these are forbidden grounds! Have we not led this ferocious monstrocity far enough!? We have already lost a majority of our men, and few of us remain! We cannot possibly stop this beast," another knight shouted out from the back.
"We've gone too far now to turn back. We must try to subdue this vile demon," exclaimed the Captain. "Slow your dragons, and fire your rifles upwards! Encourage your ride to fire as well! We can at least slow him down!" The remaining knights did so, but their attacks were in vain. Their shots cut through the clouds, but did not strike the Dragon. Seconds later, the cloud dissipated from around the knights and there, charging towards them came Staingonair.
Staingonair's maw opened wide, and from it he fired his legendary Rage Burst. Four balls of flaming multi-colored energy shot out. Two of them met their targets with merciless force, frying the Dragons and knocking them out of the air. The two remaining knights continued to charge forth.
"For the glory of Planchanus," they both shouted in unison. But their battlecries were cut short. Staingonair rushed into them, capturing one in his maw and striking the other down with his tail. The knights fell to their doom as Staingonair circled the area, devouring the Dragon he had just captured. Victory was his, but where has this chase brought him? Staingonair continued to circle, trying to get an idea of his location. He was restless. There was another one there, but it wasn't a Dragon-riding knight like those he had just defeated. Slowly, the dark of the night sky grew darker, and a large winged figure shadowed Staingonair's form. He was about to meet his ultimate match...

The pale armor cladded dragon looked above into the gray clouds. The thick blanket bust into light as if the sun was pushing through the clouds. The demonic dragon shielded his eyes from the pure white light. His ears then became filled with a strange rythmic sound that soon turned into a bone shaking shrill, the dragon's cry of pain lost within the banshee cry. Staingonair suddenly felt a sharp pain in his chest and violently tossed, his body careening down to the Iron Wall.
The beast opened his eyes, the wind was powerful and the cold white snow quickly covered his body. The dragon slowly lifted himself up letting out a groan of agony, but the wind. The wind suddenly stopped freezing his body and a large shadow lurched over the dragon, his demonic eyes meeting the keen gaze of his new challenge.
There a great eagle stood, the forgotten daughter of Thorondor King of the Eagles. Arasulwen stood erect looming over the battered body of Staingonair, her gold feather crown illuminated, her majestic wing span out stretched far at either ends. Staingonair let out a shriek of defiance and quickly leapt onto the eagles chest, digging his claws into her broad chest. His weight pushing her off the ledge, sending the two in a downward plunge into the cracks of the mountain. Arasulwen struggled to manuever through the knife-like spires, her body twisting and turning all the while fighting the pain of hundreds of teeth within Staingonair's maw eating her flesh. The ebony eagle folded her massive wings, diving head first into a dark canyon. Her feather's became bright as fire as they entered, pulling within meters of colliding into the rocky spires, and soaring through the ever shrinking canyon walls.
Staingonair let out a bellowish laugh at the taste of blood. The sweet taste was suddenly bittersweet as the sharp beak of the eagle began to pierce through the thick armor of the dragon. The keen eyes of Arasulwen suddenly caught the dim sunlight through a opening. A thing crack within the moutain. Arasulwen turned to her side, the tips of her feather dragging ontop the rock floor as she headed towards the small opening. Staingonair looked ahead suddenly seeing a wall of black rock quickly coming closer. Before he could react his armored head rammed into the stone, cracking the wall. His grip slipped from Arasulwen as she slipped through the thin doorway, the dragon tumbling down the side of the mountain.
The beast quickly rouse to his feet, catching his adversary diving towards him for the final blow. The dragon outstretched his black wings and quickly lauched himself into the air. He rouse above the mountain top in great speed, the white eagle in pursuit, the two ascending high into the thick, grey clouds where even the keenest eye will have trouble seeing.

Staingonair screeched a challenge to his adversary, rising farther and farther, through the gray clouds and into the night sky. The higher he got, the colder it became. His eyes squinted to block out the stabbing wind, but he continued rising. Arasulwen followed behind, rising to his challenge. They continued rising, higher and higher and higher into the sky.
Just before his wings could no longer carry him, Staingonair roared and closed them up, and his decent towards the Great Eagle began. Arasulwen squawked in surprise and began to slow herself down when she saw the Dragon diving like a swift arrow. He shrieked arrogantly, almost like a cackling laugh, and the jewel on his chest began to glow. The Eagle's bright eyes widened and she quickly turned sharply to the right as a vicious stream of energy splashed towards her and skimmed right across her wing. She barely dodged it.
But Staingonair wasn't through yet. Before Arasulwen had any time to react to the attack, the pale Dragon's body zoomed past her, and he quickly latched himself to her backside with one of his extended forearms. The forced jerked the Eagle down with Staingonair and they began a jolting descent towards the snow covered grounds. They tossed and turned through the clouds, but the daughter of Thorondor couldn't shake the beast. His claws dug deep into her flesh and blood oozed from the wounds and dripped onto his body. The scent aroused the vile Dragon and again he sunk his teeth into her, bellowing out as he took a bite and listened to her screech in pain.
They continued falling, faster and faster, picking up velocity and speed. Staingonair took bite after bite, cackling with each shriek let out by Arasulwen. But something happened that he didn't expect. The Eagle flapped her enormous wings wildly, twisting around madly. The blood from her wounds splattered everywhere, tainting her pure white feathers, and Staingonair was already drenched in it. With a quick twist to the side, Arasulwen managed to loosen the Dragon's grip and quickly slammed him into the side of the mountain. The evil bellows of the beast quickly turned to cries of pain as he was smashed up against the jagged rocks. This could not stop the Eagle's descent however, as although she slowed down with her mighty wings, she still collided with the snow covered valley below the mountains. With meager squawks, Arasulwen rose up and shook off the combination of snow and blood, and looked around. There was a dripping purple bloodstain where she had slammed Staingonair into the mountainside, but the Dragon himself was nowhere to be seen...

Arasulwen's eyes darted back and forth, her sight tainted by the thick grey clouds that shrouded the mountain tops. A soft gust of wind cold wind whispered into her ear. The daughter of Manwe could suddenly feel a presence quickly coming close to her from behind. The eagle leapt into the air, her massive wings carrying her high above the mountain, barely missing Staingonair's jaws.
The dragon followed the eagle into the clouds, catching the scent of the eagle's blood. The beast frantically looking back and forth as the clouds grew darker around him. Suddenly he felt the armor on his back being pierced, the savage gash oozed purple blood as the dragon screamed in agony. A sharp pain suddenly grew in his stomach, the wind dragon quickly reacted, expelling four blast of energy into the grey clouds. Once again another attack came, Arasulwen latched her talon's into the dragon's back. The eagle tossed the dragon, his body colliding onto the highest peak amoungst the Iron Wall. The dragon quickly launched himself back to his feet, roaring in defiance of the eagle.
The clouds started to clear, the beast's demonic eyes locked up on the massive eagle in the distance. Her pure white feathers now tainted with her own blood. Staingonair held in the cry of pain as his purple blood drooled from his wounds. The dragon stood atop the great mountain bellowing out another cry of defiance to the eagle. The crystal within Staingonair's breast began to glow finally exspelling a powerful stream of light hurtling towards Arasulwen. The great eagle clasped her massive wings together, an awesome wind stronger then any of the most ferocious storms could churn up soared towards the dragon. The spectrum of light from the beast's chest, glowing all shades of colors, fought with the mighty wind.
Staingonair's eyes began to burn as the awesome spectrum of light began to warp, soaring along with the wind towards the bewildered dragon...

Staingonair let out a fearful roar and shut his eyes tightly. He quit firing the ray, but it was still coming at him. He raised his arms in front of him as the blast of energy crashed against his body like a tidal wave. A combination of smoke, snow, and water kicked up around the Dragon as the echo of an explosion sounded throughout the Iron Wall.
Arasulwen remained airborne and watched closely as the smoke cleared. She knew that the blow did not finish off her adversary. There stood Staingonair, his arms still covering his face and his eyes still shut. He only had minor burn marks across his body from the blow. The beam was, for the most part, ineffective when turned on him.
Staingonair opened his eyes and lowered his arms, looking around. He spotted the brightly shining Eagle up in the sky, and growled to himself in anger. This creature is persistant. It will not die. The pale Dragon was growing impatient. He had tasted the blood of the daughter of Thorondor, and he wanted more. As soon as possible. With an ear-shattering roar of determination, Staingonair opened his wings and took to the skies, straight towards Arasulwen, hatred and hunger filling his eyes. His own body crashed into her much larger form, and drove his tail into one of her legs. He clung to her feathers and as she squawked in agony, the beast got right up in her face and glared straight into her light green eyes. It looked as though he was grinning at her, and she only chirped lightly.
They both struggled in midair, trying to sling one another into the rocks that surrounded them. After another bite and another taste of her pure flesh, Staingonair let go and launched a volley of spines at Arasulwen. Some of the spines sunk into her flesh, causing more blood to flow, but others bounced right off of her iron-hard feathers. The Eagle yelped in pain, but quickly lashed out. She dashed towards the Dragon and dug her talons deep into his armor until she had a good grip of him. Staingonair shrieked in both pain and defiance, and thrashed wildly. One of the talons had pierced through one of his wings. Arasulwen swooped down low, as low as she could get in the valley, and dragged Staingonair across the ground. As she rose up into the sky again, the pale Dragon retaliated and fired another round of spines into her legs. Arasulwen screeched in pain and released her grip on Staingonair, but ripped through part of his wing in the process, leaving a sizeable tear.
Staingonair bellowed once again and fired four spheres of energy at her wings. They hit their target, but her wings were so massive that they were almost unfazed. Staingonair was growing restless, and weak at the same time. He let out another ear-splitting roar and a massive rush of energy shot through his body. Instantly, he was seemingly revitalized. His muscles tightened at the strength that flowed through his body. At a lightning fast speed, the pale Dragon charged the mighty Eagle again and sliced through one of her wings, as payment for damaging his own wing. Arasulwen shrieked in pain, but it wasn't over yet. The Dragon was still hungry, and as he flew about her at incredible speeds, he took bite after bite into her, tearing into her flesh and devouring what he could get. Blood dripped and was absorbed by the snow and stained the few patches of grass in the area. The taste was like the food of the Gods for the Dragon. He continued to attack, disorienting the Eagle, until he noticed that strange golden aura beginning to appear along the edges of the Eagle's feathers...

The grey clouds atop of the mountains began to open like a curtain revealing the the bright sun. The star bathed Arasulwen with it's golden wings as the eagle of Manwe suddenly became illuminated with the light of Ainaval. All the shadow was quickly dispersed through out the valley as the mighty eagle let out a shriek that echoed throughout the mountains. Staingonair bellowed in defiance, shielding his eyes from the great light.
Arasulwen suddenly felt all the weariness within her body begin to fade, her wing's outstretching farther then she has ever stretched them before. The white feather that covered her body became longer, stronger, replinishing her wounds. Her body grew taller, high above Staingonair, her glowing crown of gold feathers reached higher to the sky, giving her an even more regal look. The daughter of Thorondor had finally matured, for her body needed to grow stronger with the perils that lay before her.
Staingonair charged blindly foreward towards the replinished servent of Manwe. He suddenly felt his wings being swept away by a powerful wind, a wind that tossed his body towards the foot of the mountain with great ease. The wind dragon lifted himself from the earth a turned to face his oppenent. Expelling with great fury four balls of light, each color drastically different from the other, soaring towards Arasulwen. The eagle dodge the on coming barrage with such grace, moving faster then Staingonair's eyes could follow and like an angry thunderstorm the great Eagle retaliated. Coming from the front, side and back of the bewildered dragon.
Staingonair launched himself into the air, the great eagle following him. The pale beast quickly turn and attacked. The two twirled in the air, Arasulwen quickly kicking her talons into the air and snapping her massive beak, hoping to grab some flesh. Staingonair wildly flayed his arms, the two locked into combat. A powerful spear of lightning struck the two in the midst of combat, the awesome force freed themselves from their iron grips, pushing them back. Arasulwen quickly swooped around in a half circle, as did Staingonair. The Eagle folded her massive wings, moving faster then a whirlwind. Staingonair would not back down, the hunger in his belly cried for him to fight, he began to charge at the same lightning quickness of the daughter of Thorondor. The two titans collided with a sound louder then any clap of thunder, the wake of the impact shook the mountains, the fortresses of stone nearly falling into dust.

Dust and debris rose and spread as some of the smaller mountains crumbled away and chunks of the larger mountains collapsed in large avalanches. When the smoke cleared, so did the sky, and the two winged beasts were nowhere in sight. Only the bloodstains soaked up by the snow were visible, otherwise there was no other sign of their presence other than the destruction they left behind...
***
There was a flash of light and a loud swooshing sound over the normally calm pastures of the small farming land of Rurak. The wind picked up at a terrifying strength, coming close to uprooting trees and carrying wagons, tools, even grazing animals away. But it only lasted for a few seconds. The bright light cleared, and instantly a small field was bathed in drops of purple blood. The blood of Staingonair. The pale Dragon appeared out of the sky from seemingly out of nowheree. He hovered in midair, his limbs hanging down and his head tilted back. He slowly descended to the ground just before regaining his composure. The beast looked around in bewilderment. Where was he now? This was not where he was fighting earlier? Where is the Eagle? His stomach growled, and he roared violently in unison with it. His roar silenced quickly however. There was a sound. The wind picked up speed again, but Staingonair had no time to react. The sound of impact shattered the air and set the pastures ablaze. In a bright flash, Staingonair vanished just as quickly as he had appeared. For another split second, a large shadow of a bird with an enormous wingspan covered the burning land with it's golden light, just before vanishing as the Dragon had.
***
Stangonair slowly opened his eyes. Again, he was in a different place. This time, he was drifting out in the water, lost in sea. Seagulls and small aquatic creatures and Dragons circled his floating body. His blood flowed into the water and turned it into a deeper purple, almost black color. The bleeding Dragon groaned and slowly lifted himself into the air. He quickly thrust his tail into the water and withdrew an impaled whale, which he quickly devoured. He was famished from the fighting, and lost as well. The whale's blood and flesh helped the Dragon slowly recover his strength. He cast the remains into the water and looked around.
Overhead, a silhouette of gold floated above him. Staingonair screeched violently once he recognized the Eagle. This was it, he must now defeat this bird and satisfy his cravings for flesh before or die trying...

Staingonair lifted himself from the waves and charged towards the magnificent bird, his cry of battle tore into the air. The clouds began to darken above the heads of the battling titans and the water churned below them. Arasulwen grasped one of the dragon's wings with her talons, tearing the appendage off. The dragon screamed in pain as he began to fall towards the waves, finally diving into the strong tide, his purple blood rising along with the bubbles to the surface. Within the murky depths the dragon fought with the strong current of the water, dragging him deeper and deeper into the deep. The dragon could not escape the fury of the water that Arasulwen had arouse as his body grew limp, finally falling into the darkness.

The sun had completely set. The only sound that could be heard for miles was the crashing of the waves. Seagulls silently circled the beach overhead, looking for scraps of food and any fish close to the surface. Something was out of the ordinary, however. A large body washed up ashore, a soaking wet white armored beast, it's body stained in purple and crimson blood. Staingonair had been defeated by the daughter of Thorondor. The Dragon remained completely silent and motionless for hours. He finally opened his eyes and groaned in pain. His wounds were starting to heal, and a new wing was beginning to form. Despite his recovering, Staingonair was still hungry. His pride was damaged more than his body. He would need more time to recover from the anguish and sense of loss, but this would not stop him from devouring the weaker foes. The Dragon lifted his head, and then his body as he rose up. Where to go now? The scent of fresh blood filled his nostrils. That is where he shall go...

The warmth from the sun's morning raise opened the heavy eyelids of the tired, battle worn man. His blurred gaze look out the window unto the tall steeples of a great city.
'I am home,' he said to himself, 'but how?'
His memory brought up the image of he falling through the gray clouds over the Iron Wall, the icy wind stung his face. He could see the mountaintops coming closer and closer, he had failed in his duty to protect his kingdom he loved as well as it's people. Who are now all prey to the beast, Staingonair. The warrior shut his eyes from enevitable doom he was quickly hurtling towards until he felt something grasp his body. He then remembered the the white wings of some divine creature setting him down onto the mountain top were he had lost consciousness.
'Captain Ellesar!' the voice suddenly interrupted. Ellesar turned to see to his joy, one of the soldiers amoungst his brigade. The young soldier came to his captain's beside, his face had a air of excitement to it.
'It was the god's that saved us,' he spoke. 'They saved us because of our courage against the dragon and reward us by sending him away.'
'What do you mean, 'sending him away'?' questioned the captain, his face perplexed.
'Staingonair no longer dwells within the Iron Walls, he has been banished from the gods.', the young soldier replied with much excitement behind those words.
'Who brought us here?'
The boy replied slowly, 'Why, the god's themselves did, to the very door of Planchanus. The towns people speak of the whole light that turned the twilight into day, as if the sun was falling from the sky. They now think we are but gods ourselves.'
The two began to laugh but deep within Ellesar's mind he knew this was no intervention of divinity that saved them, for he remember's seeing the eyes of his rescuer. The eyes not of a god, but of a guardian.
